Earith Lakes Fisheries is located in the heart of the Fenlands surrounded by the villages of Sommersham, Bluntisham, Colne and Earith.

The lakes are located on a glacerial bed of gravel. During the 1960's the mineral company Amy Roadstone converted 36 acres of wheat fields into a lake by mining the high quality gravel of the region. This resulted in the creation of 2 beautiful lakes and 5 smaller ponds filled by the constant running of gravel filtered water from the underground river bed.

The lakes were purchased by Ken McLennan who developed them into one of the finest coarse and fly-fishing lakes in the region, stocked with the finest rainbow, brown and golden trout. After living in a caravan for many years Ken finally received permission in 1991 to build a house on the premises, naming it "Hawamahal" meaning palace of the winds.

In 1998 the lakes were purchased by the Bermeister family and in April 2011 was sold to Martin & Alex Dawson who currently live at the house and manage the fishery.
